CHED Memo #4, S.2023
MMDC is instituting temporary adjustments to the CURRENT BSBA Program and will temporarily pause its offering to NEW students effective Term 3-April, 2024.
This is to comply with the Updated Guidelines on Onsite Learning in Higher Education, otherwise known as CHED Memorandum Order #4, Series of 2023, “For private HEIs… they may deliver 50% of the total number of courses per degree program through appropriate offsite, online, or self-paced flexible learning provisions. The remaining 50% must be conducted on-site.”
This updated guidelines specifically affects the modality in which the current BSBA Programs are delivered. Originally, the program is intended to be delivered 100% fully online, as MMDC aims to serve the working students as well as those who require flexible learning set-ups.
To reiterate, MMDC, a college under Mapua Malayan Colleges Laguna is recognized and authorized by CHED to offer BA the program, it is only the modality, which is “fully online” that has been affected by this updated memo.
Nonetheless, MMDC will continue to offer the BSBA Specializations listed below to all existing BSBA Students until they graduate. However, this will be done mindful of the 50%-50% division of which the courses are delivered, especially until the SY24-25.

BA Program, back to Fully Online by SY2025-2026
MMDC remains committed to the BSBA program and is eagerly awaiting the release of the newest CHED Memo on Online, Distance and E-Learning (ODEL). Upon the release of this memo, MMDC will immediately seek CHED approval to resume its BA programs in the fully online modality.
MMDC is confident with setting this timeline because not only have MMDC kept positive relations with CHED, having been known with a good compliance track record, granted an autonomous school status, MMDC is also prepared with what the new guidelines will require and ready to comply with what it stipulates.

Options for Current BSBA Students
Current MMDC BSBA students will have several options for continuing their education and the support they need to ensure the completion of their degree programs. MMDC assures all students that it is committed to providing solutions at the earliest possible time and is working continuously to build the best programs for working students within CHED boundaries and guidance.
With the updated guidelines stipulating a 50-50 modality (50% online, 50% on-site), the delivery of half of the courses shall be online, and the other half “on-site.” This means that a student should take 71.5 units fully online, and the next half on-site.
The BA program currently has 143 units in total.

Our current students have been taking their units in the online modality, so this implies that after they’ve reached the 50% mark, which is 71.5 units, the rest of the units will have to be taken with MMDC’s Live Learning Experiences or LLX.
Live Learning Experiences (LLX) are on-site or face-to-face events that students attend 3 times per term in select MMDC locations identified to be near most, if not all, of the BA students. These are in the form of talks and seminars, mentor-meet-ups, and a showcase of coursework with industry-practitioners, SMEs, Mentors and Coaches.
Additionally, LLX aim to integrate different and multiple courses of study and subject matters into one event. This is with the intention to remain flexible for the students and those who will be traveling to attend.
MMDC is preparing to launch the LLX to all by Term 1, Sy24-25.
However, MMDC recognizes that there are some students
who are due to take LLX already because they are beyond the
online units taken. Because of this, MMDC is preparing to
conduct a pilot run of the LLX by this Term 3 to accommodate.

Depending on the student's context, for instance: a student's total number of units taken, location and personal set-up (working vs not-working), MMDC is working to provide an option for students to be able to continue.
Below are the 2 essential questions each student needs to answer to be able to identify, what is the next best option for them.
A third question may also be helpful - Am i available to attend Live Learning Experiences? Will I be able to integrate it into my personal/ family/ work calendar as well as go to the learning locations to attend these?
Note: For transferrees who came into MMDC with previous school experience, and have therefore been granted credits for equivalent courses previously taken, these units in not included in the count of your total units. So these will not be deducted from the 50% or 71.5 units for online courses.
Once a student identifies the number of units they've taken as well as the remaining units left to complete, the following are the options:
- For students who are at the 30 to 50 units mark, since they still have Online Units left to take, they may continue, STATUS QUO to take FULLY ONLINE Courses. However, there is a need to monitor so as not to exceed the 50% or 71.5 units. Once the 50% is reached, the student may take part in the LLX to fulfill the latter 50% for "on-site" units.
- Below is an example for a student who has taken a total of 34 units. This means, the students can take an additional 37.5 units online, before starting with the 71.5 units of LLX.
- Students, who prefer to remain ONLINE, may opt to SLOW DOWN and take just enough number of units per term, so as not to exceed the 71.5 online units until the end of SY24-25.
- Students who are open to taking LLX, may continue to take the maximum allowed units per term, fulfilling both the 50% online and 50% LLX at the same time.
- LLX are open to all. This is regardless of the number of units taken. So students may choose to enroll and attend LLX courses, beginning term 1 of SY 24-25.
- Students who are at the 71.5 limit or beyond the 50% for online courses, may consider the following:
- Take full LLX with their courses.
- Take a temporary Leave of Absence (LOA)
- Shift to an IT Program. New business-focused specializations will be launched on Term 1 of SY24-25.
- Transfer - We understand that these changes, while temporary, may affect the overall goals and timelines of some of our students. If they decide, that transferring to a different institution will be the best for them, we fully respect that decision.
Note:
1. MMDC's Integrated Advising Team will facilitate and assist, with waived processing fees, should students decide to request for an LOA or to shift to a different program.
2. We will publish more information about LLX - especially its locations, as well as the new business-focused IT specializations as soon as these are available within term 3 of this school year, in preparation for Term 1-SY24-25.
3. The IAs will reach out especially to the students who are at the limit or will exceed the 50% online units this Term 2. Please let us know what questions you may have to help you decide.
