What Are Integrative Courses?
Integrative Courses are culminating, performance-based subjects you complete in Year 3 and Year 4. They consolidate everything you’ve learned into a major project that tackles real-world problems in society, industry, or the environment.
They are designed to:
Purpose | What It Means for You |
Assess Program Outcomes | MMDC verify that graduates are academically knowledgeable, professionally competent, and ethically responsible. |
Bridge Classroom & Industry | You apply theories and methods to projects, ensuring industry relevance and up-to-date practice. |
Typical activities include written proposals, problem justifications, manuscript preparation, and oral defenses before a panel.
Project Timeline & Milestones
The schedule below shows the typical weeks during the term when key milestones are expected. Oral defenses are generally scheduled within these timeframes and may vary slightly depending on your program or mentor’s timeline.
Week | Milestone | What Happens |
5–8 | Proposal/ Problem Justification & Oral Defense | Present your concept, get feedback, refine scope. |
10–12 | Final Oral Defense | Defend the near-final output, address panel comments. |
12 | Final Manuscript Submission | Submit polished work for final grading and archive. |

Re-Defense Policy and Fee
If the event that a group will be required to undergo a re-defense after their final defense for their Feasibility Study or Capstone, a Re-Defense Fee of ₱2,200 will apply. This fee must be shared and settled by the group and paid in full before the scheduled re-defense.
Re-defense is typically due to significant gaps in the project’s quality, completeness, or alignment with course outcomes. The fee helps cover additional administrative, review, and panel evaluation efforts involved in re-assessing your work.
We strongly encourage all groups to prepare thoroughly, plan ahead, collaborate effectively, and take feedback seriously throughout the process. Submitting a strong proposal, consulting regularly with your mentor, and rehearsing your defense can go a long way in helping you pass the first time—saving you time, effort, and added costs.
You've got this—prepare well, trust your process, and aim to finish strong!
We’re here to support you as you take these final steps toward graduation. Good luck with your Integrative Course journey!
