Whether you are currently working while studying, have done so before, or simply want to support fellow students who do — this celebration is for you.
This March, Mapúa Malayan Digital College invites you to take part in a series of activities in celebration of National Working Students Day on March 21 — a day dedicated to recognizing the perseverance, resilience, and aspirations of students who balance work and education.
This celebration forms part of MMDC’s Step Up sa Pangarap campaign, which seeks to highlight the realities of working students while creating spaces for reflection, connection, and support.
This year, three major initiatives will mark the celebration:
State of the Working Student (SWS)
|
The State of the Working Student (SWS) aims to better understand the lived realities of working students across the Philippines. Through a nationwide survey, working students have been invited to share their experiences related to academic access, work schedules, financial realities, well-being, support systems, and future aspirations. The insights gathered will be consolidated into the State of the Working Student Report, which MMDC will share publicly with schools, employers, policymakers, and other stakeholders. The findings will be shared on March 21, marking the first public sharing of insights from this study. |

Run for the Working Student — Nationwide Run
|
On March 21, students are invited to take part in the Run for the Working Student, a simple but meaningful nationwide “run anywhere” activity. By running, walking, or moving on March 21, you become part of a collective gesture of support — a nationwide show of solidarity for those who work hard both in the workplace and in the classroom. Participants may complete their run anywhere that works for them — outdoors, at a gym, or even as part of a daily walk. Students are encouraged to share their participation online as part of the celebration.

National Working Students Day Is a Movement
At its heart is a simple belief: every student’s journey deserves recognition.
Some students are balancing work and school. Others support their families, take on side hustles, or quietly carry the discipline and sacrifices needed to pursue their goals. In many ways, every student is a working student, working towards something — a dream, a better future, or a responsibility they hold for themselves or for others.
MMDC hopes to create a space where these journeys can be seen, shared, and supported. The activities for National Working Students Day — the State of the Working Student, the Run for the Working Student, and the Career Roadshows — are ways for the community to reflect on these realities and celebrate the determination behind them.
But a movement only becomes meaningful when people show up for it.
Whether you are a working student yourself, someone who has experienced balancing work and school, or someone who simply wants to stand with fellow students, you are invited to be part of this movement.
Because every student is working toward something — and every journey deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
